Ok lets face it we all have made excuses for most parts of our lives whether it be health related including our diets and exercise, work, finance, family, moods and more I’m sure. Here I want to look at how excuses in regards to health and fitness are hurting you.

From my own experience and thinking about the excuses I have used in my own life I see where I am and were I could have been.

 I always tell people “life is about choices” and the excuses I choose to use have affected me by breaking down self esteem in which has a snowball effect the lower the self esteem the more excuses you are going to make and so it goes a vicious cycle. Our excuses will break down our self respect and the respect that others have for us also.

Now are your excuses hurting your self esteem your sense of self worth?

Now if we look at our excuse they will quite often sound legitimate, but if you were to hear the same excuses from someone else they would sometimes sound weak and pathetic.

Here are just a few excuses I have heard and what my response to these are.

 “I have an injury” Injuries suck no doubt but ask a professional what you can do to work around them also an injury wont stop you eating well and your eating habits will be the biggest thing you can do to benefit your health.

  “I don’t have time to exercise” In my opinion this isn’t a valid excuse if this is yours tell me how much T.V do you watch? How much time on X-box, play station etc do you waste? How much time over a day do you waste on social media?

 “I need to get fit before I come to your kickboxing classes” I have heard this heaps and it still makes me shake my head. Come to class to get fit!

I really wish I had written down every excuse I have been given and also the ones I have used myself over the years then I would have a better understanding of the ones that are the most repeated which would highlight where I needed to fix my own thinking.

Because we are all the same in some way. I am sure I have used the same excuses you have used at some point.

Please look inside yourself notice the excuses you are using see which ones are re-occurring and make an effort to choose correctly for your long term health and fitness and of course other parts of your life.

So what can we do to combat our excuses and self sabotage?

Take action get up get moving, motivation follows action.

Most of the time just getting off the lounge and out the front door is the hardest part. But when you get stuck into your form of exercise (Hopefully its Kickboxing at Evolve Martial Arts haha) you will have clearer thinking and you will feel better about yourself. That is an awesome start to breaking your use of excuses which are holding you back.

Spend time with people who will support you and pat you on the back no matter the outcome. And that is what is like at Evolve Martial Arts we are all very supportive here and we want you to be the best you possible.
